For the un-initiated: The Slender Man is a mythical creature originally created for the purpose of a "Create Paranormal Images" thread on a SomethingAwful.com forum. The creature caught on as an internet phenomenon shortly after. An YouTube video series, Marble Hornets and the Slender Man has also been created centering around "Alex", who has been videotaping his frightening experiences with the boogeyman-like creature known as The Slender Man.

I've recently decided to re-watch the entries and was inspired to write up a Slender Man-themed post. I've been toying with the idea of developing a short video or series exploring some SCP Foundation entries (Secure. Contain. Protect), specifically entry SCP-087, which has always been incredibly creepy to me. It wouldn't be a difficult or expensive project, certainly.

The Marble Hornets boys have certainly managed to string something deeply disturbing and awesome on what looks to be a limited budget and have not suffered for it. The appeal is definitely there for me: I love horror stories. Especially if they focus on otherworldly, unexplainable entities. Probably why I'm such an avid fan of Lovecraftian themes and Eldridge monsters. The Slender Man definitely ranks way up there.
